Rene,

Thanks for the heads up. We weren't aware that i-wood is active in this area. Will contact you separately so that we can at least update this post.

Kais3rs0ze,

Good point about apps which can host own mini-stores (I would argue this is true for both embedded and downloadable apps). I guess though the in-app-store is limited to the context of the app; e.g. RJDJ (virtual music app) hosts a store for musical instruments. A map app can host an app store for specialised maps, etc

Andreas

A great read and great insight as usual!
I think we'll see more ISVs who get an embed using widgets/icons to link directly into their addon products and services. They have to to drive additonal revenue. But every embed should be architected that way now: if you go to all the trouble getting an embed, hook them straight into your *own* product/service store. I wrote about why ISVs should hate app stores here http://predictivetext.blogspot.com/. One reason is lack of discovery. But if you are embedded, you should know what addon products/sevices the user has and doesn't have and dynamically push the latter to the user either through idle screen real estate (I like your ideas on monetising that btw) or via their own application: the ISVs application should be "virtual store" of addon widgets/icons.
