		<description>Nice writeup.  As the mobile phone continues to evolve into a very capable general purpose computing platform it is gobbling up a lot of other devices.  I use my iPhone as my alarm clock, camera, flashlight, metronome, personal nav, etc., not to mention my phone.

At the same time, studies have shown that on average, the mobile phone is not in proximity to its user as much as everybody tends to assume.  Gregory Abowd&#039;s paper on this sometime back was one study in particular that sticks out in my mind:

On the question of who will be the gatekeeper for the aggregated &quot;phonebook 2.0&quot;, Motorola&#039;s BLUR is one example of a manufacturer taking on that role.</description>
