I believe Intel has quite a significant competence in Linux and Open Source from kernel work, architecture and on through clutter and other projects. Certainly, Intel has a commitment to investing and seeing the success of open source and linux which, IMO, is more transparent than other "open source linux" products being delivered to market. I think that generalizing on Intel's SW expertise and then broad-brushing it towards their linux work is a distortion.
